LAYOUT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

Motor vehicle is made up from many separate items. These items are fitted together to form a unit or components which are mounted onto either frame or a body shell to form chassis.

The vehicle comprises of the fellowing

1. Frame

2. Body

3. Engine

4. Transmission system

5. Suspension system

6. Steering system

7. Brakes system

8. Electrical systems

1. FRAME

It is used to form the skeleton of the vehicle and its functions is to carry on all the units of the vehicle. The frame must be strong that it can sustain high pressure. It is made up from either steel pressing welded or revited together to make it reinforcement.

2. BODY

It is made up from a large number of steel pressing which are welded together with doors, bonnet and boot to form a weather proof and comfortable compartment for the driver and the passengers.

3. ENGINE

It’s the unit that converts the heat energy into mechanical energy and also act as a power unit of the vehicle which consist of radiator for cooling, fuel, ignition and lubrication system.

4. TRANSMISSION

This system transmit the drive or power from the engine to the road wheels. This system consist of clutch, gearbox, propeller shaft and final drive.

5. SUSPENSION SYSTEM

This system absorbs the road shocks and keeps the vehicle height within a reasonable limit.

6. STEERING SYSTEM

This system helps to control or direct the movement of the vehicle.

7. BRAKING SYSTEM

This system is to retard or stop the movement of the vehicle

8. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The system provides lighting engine starting and other needs

What’s Auto mobile engineering

Automotive engineering, along with aerospace engineering and naval architecture, is a branch of vehicle engineering, incorporating elements of mechanicalelectricalelectronicsoftware, and safety engineering as applied to the design, manufacture and operation of motorcyclesautomobiles, and trucks and their respective engineering subsystems.

It also includes modification of vehicles. Manufacturing domain deals with the creation and assembling the whole parts of automobiles is also included in it.

The automotive engineering field is research -intensive and involves direct application of mathematical models and formulas. The study of automotive engineering is to design, develop, fabricate, and test vehicles or vehicle components from the concept stage to production stage.

Production, development, and manufacturing are the three major functions in this field.

Automotive engineering rolesEdit

Automotive engineers include those listed below:

  • Aerodynamics engineers will often offer guidance to the styling studio so that the shapes they design are aerodynamic, as well as attractiveness.
  • Body engineers will also let the studio know if it is feasible to make the panels for their designs.
  • Change control engineers make sure that all of the design and manufacturing changes that occur are organized, managed and implemented...
  • NVH engineers perform sound and vibration testing to prevent loud cabin noises, detectable vibrations, and/or improve the sound quality while the vehicle is on the road.

Automobile engineeringEdit

Automobile engineering is a branch study of engineering which gives you the knowledge of manufacturers , designing, mechanical mechanisms as well as operations of automobiles. It is an introduction to vehicle engineering which deals with motorcycles, cars, buses, trucks, etc. It includes branch study of mechanical, electronic, software and safety elements. Some of the engineering attributes and disciplines that are of importance to the automotive engineer and many of the other aspects are included in it.
